Climate change, nuclear wars and other man-made disasters have rendered the earth unfit for human life. They evaded the world in huge spaceships and left the earth to itself.Much of the planet is now radioactive and climate change has completely altered temperatures and landscapes. Due to the melted polar caps, the earth is now standingmostly under water. Those areas that are not covered by water or ice are very hot and arid or very tropical. Due to the adaptation to the new climate and the simultaneous exposure to radiation, a number of new life forms such as plants and animals emerged. Many hundreds of years have passed since humans left the planet, but now they want to investigate whether the earth would be viable again for them. Therefore, they have sent out drones, which should explore the planet sufficiently before they finally colonize the earth again.
To scout out the new landscapes, three drones were designed by humans. In their initial position, the drones are all spherical, making them easy to transport. When unfolded, they can either swim, fly or run. To reach out to humans again, they can revert back to their spherical state.
Tropical Area
The tropical area is the place where the ice-lands and deserts meet each other. The drastically different environments clash and create a small area of humid and hot land that enables lush vegetation and a variety of animals.
Tropical Drone
The land drone is reminiscent of a flower with its protective leaves unfolding when open. In order to move, it is equipped with six legs and can move as stably as a spider even on uneven ground. The end of each leg is tapered to dig into the ground for even better grip. In addition, the drone is also equipped with six cameras to enable a 360° view of the surroundings, and to have enough backup cameras, in case some are being covered by leaves or grass. Inside the drone is a terrarium in which is used to collected plant samples with a glasshouse roof, so that they continue to get enough sunlight. Should an animal attack, the terrarium can be protected by closing the protective leaves. The samples are taken through an opening on the underside, the drone lowers its body onto the sample and thus absorbs it into your body.
Tropical Creature
The lizard-like creature is a real racing machine. With the small size of a cat, this creature runs the risk of being hunted by larger animals. It avoids this by using its brilliant blue color to signals its enemies that it is highly poisonous and that death can be expected from this snack, similar to poison frogs in modern day. However, this also makes it highly visible to its own potential food, which has forced it to evolve into a very fast racer. When it has caught the food and is exhausted, its venom ensures that no further fight is necessary and it can rest and recover from the exertion. In order to avoid injuries from sticks or stones when running, the skin is covered with scales to protect from damage.
